My 1st Gardening Attempt...

For Mother's Day this year, our ward gave all of us a tomato plant. I wondered what I was ever going to do with just one tomato plant when we don't even really like tomatoes! I bought a hanging planter and planted it anyways. Then I was talking with Hauni one afternoon and she told me that she had been thinking about turning a little spot down by our patio into a small garden since the grass won't grow there.
BEFORE
She told me we could plant anything that we wanted and we would all just share what we grew. I decided that since I already had one tomato plant planted that I would buy the peppers that I would need to make fresh salsa this summer. OH, and a squash plant, because summer just isn't summer without a little squash! Hauni had bought some more tomato plants, a few pepper plants, some parsley & some basil to plant. We got up last Saturday morning and went to work gettting the weeds out & turning the soil to get it ready for planting. Hauni had to leave before we got the plants in the ground because she had some clients coming to get their hair done, so I put as many plants in the ground as I could, but we really overestimated the amount of space that we had.
AFTER
We ended up with Seven hanging plants lining the underside of the deck. The parsley & basil, a jalapeno plant, a sweet marconi pepper plant, two strawberry plants and my tomato plant are all hanging in pots.
ALL THE HANGING POTS
They are all growing so much and I already have strawberries, a tomato, and a jalapeno growing. I can't wait for everything to get big enough that we can really start to benefit from our hard work.

Happy Mother's Day!

Mother's Day was great this year. Andy and Chloe surprised me with some of my most favorite things this year...Willow Tree & a new purse that I have been eyeing for months! Andy took Chloe shopping on Friday night so I even got a little R&R time alone at my house! That has not happened in a long time and it was much needed. Even though I just took a shower and didn't do anything fun, it was sure nice to take a long shower and not have a 4 year old barging in and opening the shower so the cold air comes in. Thank you so much for making me feel like a million bucks! I am so lucky to have such a great little family. You guys make everyday worth while! On Mother's Day, we went to visit our moms. Andy had picked out their presents and their cards this year, and he was so excited to give it to them. We gave both of our moms a collection of sketches by Liz Lemon Swindle. She is the most talented artist when it comes to pictures of the Savior, and she can really tell a story through her paintings. The collection we gave them starts when He is born and shows His life. It is beautiful, and I wish I would have bought one for me too. We got them for a really good price, because they had put the wrong price on the internet and they honored it for us since we had gone in and asked about it. We have been so blessed to have two moms who are really GREAT!!! I don't think that there could ever be better moms. My mom has been my best friend for a long time, and I was so lucky to marry into a wonderful family and have another mom that can be another best friend too. I feel so blessed to have such strong examples of faith, love, compassion, discipline, and most important of all...how to be a good mom! Thanks for teaching me so much and helping me learn from my mistakes and shortcomings. I love you both more than you will ever know!
